KEY INSIGHTS

A few things I've learned...

Lesson | 01
My personality type.

It is spot on, well at least in my opinion it is. I am an ESFJ (extravert, sensing, feeling, and judging) who loves people and craves structure, but I rely on my feelings to help me make decisions. Also, below are my top 5 strengths (discipline, deliberative, individualization, consistency, and relator) and what they mean. I was able to explore more of my personality by recently working with a group of freshmen in the Day One program. I used these aspects of me to help form a cohesive bond with others who are different than me!

Lesson | 02
Being a mentor/leader.
I have been involved in many organizations and have taken on numerous leadership roles growing up, but one thing I have learned in college is how to be the best mentor I can be. I learned that I should lead beside a person, not in front of them. This allows them to grow into their own role as a leader as well, instead of just me taking the ropes.

In MLP class we learned so many things that allowed us to enhance our knowledge on how to be a good leader. In the Day One program, I was able to help 5 freshman transition into becoming more involved in the community. We were also blessed with the opportunity to tutor 1st graders at the local elementary school!

Lesson | 03
Stepping out of my comfort zone.

It's definitely not the easiest thing. But I wanted to become more involved when I got to college. I have been honored to become a part of many organizations on campus, like being a Resident Advisor, a member of Women in Business, and even various honor society's. One in particular, though, is the Montgomery Leadership Program. I have had the opportunity to do community service and tutor children at Sudduth Elementary in Starkville the first 2 semesters of the program. In this last semester, I am doing something that I have never done before, and you can learn more about that on the leadership tab!

Overall, these organizations have allowed me to grow into a young, independent woman. I strive to enhance my leadership skills, time management, and being able to effectively communicate with a group.
